Hydrothermal synthesis of α–Fe2O3 nanorods prepared by a new and a fast route

چکیده
We have described a very fast approach for the formation of α–Fe2O3 nanorods by a simple reaction of iron with water at very low temperature of 190oC. It is shown that the nanorods have diameters ranging from 70-120nm and their typical lengths are in micrometers. The initial formation and subsequent growth of α–Fe2O3 nanostructures may be explained by the iron metal corrosion mechanism. There are other different existing approaches which were applied for the synthesis of iron oxide nanostructures, but most of the methods involve environmentally malignant chemicals and organic solvents which were toxic and not easily degraded in the environment. Compared with others, the reported method is fast, economical, environmentally benign and free of pollution, which will make it suitable for large scale production.

Hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanorods were synthesized by hydrothermal method using Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a surfactant agent. To study optical, nanostructural properties, and to control the morphology and shape of nanorods, 0.025 mol L-1, 0.05 mol L-1 and 0.1 mol L-1 concentration of CTAB were used. Moreover, the effect of interaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) A9418-5G protein...

In this paper, we focus on the controlled growth mechanism of α-Fe2O3 nanostructures via the hydrothermal method. The field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) results reveal that at a lower hydrothermal time, the initial nucleation involves the formation of short and thin β-FeOOH nanorods. The subsequent increase in the hydrothermal time leads β-FeOOH to form thicker and longer nanor...
متن کاملLow Temperature Synthesis of α-Fe2O3 Nano-rods Using Simple Chemical Route
Iron oxide (Fe2O3) is widely used as a catalyst, pigment and gas sensitive material. In this article, α-Fe2O3 nano-rods were first synthesized via a simple chemical method using iron(III) nitrate 9- hydrate (Fe(NO3)3.9H2O) as precursor. XRD pattern showed that the iron oxide nanoparticles exhibited alpha-Fe2O3 (hematite) structure in nanocrystals. The single-phase α- Fe2O3 nano-rods were prepa...

A novel tubular NiO nanostructure was synthesized by a facile and low-cost hydrothermal strategy and then further functionalized by decorating α-Fe2O3 nanorods. The images of electron microscopy indicated that the α-Fe2O3 nanorods were assembled epitaxially on the surfaces of NiO nanotubes to form α-Fe2O3/NiO nanotubes. As a proof-of-concept demonstration of the function, gas sensing devices we...
